Lessons

Iliana welcomes students regardless of age or ability. Only enthusiasm and dedication are required. Lessons are personalized, maximizing the benefit for each student.

While all students will study piano repertoire, more advanced students may also study music theory, history, and harmony. This is especially necessary if the students are studying for Royal Conservatory of Music exams.

Teaching Method

Iliana structures lessons to maximize the development of musical abilities in each student. She doesn't take shortcuts when teaching because she wants her students to become well-rounded and mature musicians with a real appreciation for music.

For young children, Iliana bases her teaching on the Faber and Francis Clark books. She has found that these books provide an excellent foundation for new students.

As students advance Iliana moves them away from book methods, and instead focuses more on the standard piano repertoire. The repertoire studied can be based around the Royal Conservatory of Music program, or it can be structured around a student's interests.

Concerts

Students are given the opportunity of showcasing their skills at twice yearly concerts. Performing is an excellent opportunity for children to develop their self-confidence, and provides the benefit of a clear goal for practicing.
